The Neue Galerie retrospective of Russian-born Expressionist artist Alexi Jawlensky (1864-1941) represents the first full museum exhibition of the artist in the United States.  Jawlensky moved to Munich in 1896, where he became an integral member of the artistic avant-garde that advanced important developments in Expression and abstraction. The show will include approximately 75 paintings ranging from 1900-1937 and will explore the chronological and thematic development of Jawlensky's work.
