The Metropolitan Opera season gets under way with Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde" on September 26th. This is a new production by Mariusz Trelinski, and will be done in a "contemporary" setting. I am not crazy about this staging , however the Wagner music is so lusciously gorgeous that I will certainly be there! Also, the cast will be served by an outstanding cast of Wagnarians, including: Nina Stemme as Isolde, Stuart Skelton as Tristan, also Ekaterina Gubanovas as Brangane, and Rene Pape as King Marke. Sir Simon Rattle will conduct in a rare MET apprearance. Please note that the other dates are; Sept 30, October 3, October 8, October 13.
