Filmed in luscious black and white and set in the deepest part of the Colombian Amazon, this remarkable, mesmerizing film is a movie not to be missed. The film directed by Colombian Ciro Guerra tells two stories, taking place in 1909 and 1940, both featuring an Amazonian shaman and last survivor of his tribe. He travels with two western explorers, each separately, thirty-one years apart in their respective search for the rare yakruna, a sacred plant. The film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film for the Academy Awards, and won the Art Cinemna Award at 2015 Cannes Film Festival. It was my favorite film of 2015.
