The Daedalus Quartet - the quartet in residence at Colombia University and hailed as "One of the finest young groups to emerge in our current golden age of string quartets." - The New Yorker. The evening will be spent celebrating the music of one generation: Russian-Jewish composers of the early 1900's. Through the Society for Jewish Folk Music, these daring artists, schooled in Russian classical music, melded tradition and modernity to give Russian Jewish folk music a more contemporary sheen.
