This is the first major exhibition to examine the relationship between Ukrainian identity and women artists beyond the border of geographic Ukraine. The show features over 100 works of art by 43 artists, primarily from North America, where the largest population resides, but also Europe. I found the exhibit impressive in the quality of works and variety of medium, style and subject matter. The subjects included: classic icon painting, well-recognized Ukrainian folkloric images, pastoral landscapes, figurative sculpture, abstract impressionism, and politically charged topics, such as the the massacre in Kyiv's Maidan Lane, and the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
